Considering that it comes from a financial web interest, many of these "breakthroughs" are just bait for investors, and many never see the light of day in real-world terms.

The lack of new battery technology isn't stopping large companies moving forward with pretty sizable storage facilities.
Here is an article about a German company E.ON that is developing a 5MW battery system probably for somewhere in Europe.Comment
