I have a 50w solar panel, a 12v deep cycle battery and normal charge controller. I'm trying to run a 12 v bilge pump that is a 2 amp draw only at dusk. How long do you think I should run this daily it's used as a bubbler in a pond. It seems to not be able to keep the battery charged if I run it at 5 hrs. Controller will wait till it's charger to activate again. I changed it to one hour this weekend .

Sort of like saying that if I cannot afford to buy enough gas for my car each week, I just need to put in a bigger tank. The concept seems silly when you look at it that way, but people who are new to solar do not always make the connection.
The first priority is to get more panel power. If the result is the run time you want, but you end up draining the battery to 50% each night, then is the time to look at getting a larger battery.SunnyBoy 3000 US, 18 BP Solar 175B panels.Comment

Your panel is undersized. By how much we won't know until we know your location.
Can't comment on the battery as we have no details as to it's size.
