    Solar powered Truffles

The news broke today, and our (wife and I) big secret is out. Half of the water going into our orchards, is actually feeding a second, covert crop. And that water is solar pumped !

City Transplants Turned Naturalists Dig Deep into Truffles by Lila Ryan In 2006, I began looking for property in Mendocino County with my husband, Mike Burgess. We had started dreaming about how to leave Los Angeles shortly after we got married. Mike had grown up there, working in aerospace ele

Any measures needed to keep any feral pigs from rooting around ?

          A (semi) truffle joke:

A guy walks into his doctor's office.
He's got a carrot stuck in one ear, a cucumber crammed in his fundament and a large truffle stuck in one nostril.
He says to the doc:" What's wrong with me ?"

The doctor replies: "Well, first of all, you need to eat more sensibly."

Was this maybe the guy that broke the news of your covert truffles?

So far, none. If it happens, there is no season on pigs that I know of, and they will be dispatched. But, first, I'd loose fencing and several trees, but I will have a side of bacon with my truffles. I've seen them destroy campgrounds and planted fields, Looks like bulldozers with ripper bars went through - nothing left

I currently get a dozen of so of them wild pigs in my yard. They tend to rip up the grass to get to something to eat beneath it. Since they come and go over a period of time it is hard to trap them like we did last winter. We got 15 of them porkers over a month using corn inside of cages.

Does this look like a truffle? This was dug out of the ground in California. The finder was metal detecting and dug it out of the ground. He thinks it may be poisonous and is keeping it in a plastic bag until he finds otherwise.

That looks very much like a truffle, and the odor would be a dead giveaway. Improperly stored, it would last a day or 2 before it rots or molds over.
