  • What panel for a 16 Amp (20-50V) MPPT Charge controller?

I got a 16Amp MPPT (20-50V input) Charge controller from a friend, he upgraded his RV system. I was wondering what's the Max wattage Panel I should think of?

    a 330W would work?

The most power a 16 A charge controller can deliver into a 12 V battery is 12*16 = 192 W. It might be appropriate to go bigger than that with the panel, but you'll need to provide more detailed information about the controller, and where you plan to install it.

Most 330 W panels have a Voc in the mid to high 40's. If you live somewhere with cold weather, a 330 W panel might exceed the 50 V input limit.

Thank You! I live in San Diego. plenty of sun... So, I should think of a 250W panel or so?

Yes, any 60 cell panel should be safe for voltage. If the charge controller has the ability to limit input current to stay within its output rating, 250-300 W should be fine.
