What Has Happened To New Years

So I come back for the Holidays and come to find out New Years Day has been cancelled. Just up and gone. What happened and why did you let this happen? Friday December 30th was the Orange Bowl which use to be the last bowl game on New Years day with Oklahoma Sooners vs the Losers. This New Year Day Not a SINGLE BOWL GAME. Not even one no thrills no name Loser Bowl like the Potato Bowl in Boise with a Smurf Blue field buried in snow. It use to be about the kids reward,and holiday.

One theory about what happens, or why it happens holds that the cause itself is fewer bowl games.

Think of time as the flow of power in a circuit with inductive and reactive loads. Once we get past the autumnal equinox, football, and bowl games in particular at or around the winter solstice, serve as a necessary shunt around the reactive forces that the more abundant sunshine of summer keeps at bay. With no bowl games on New Year's day, that entire day slips into the imaginary plane, changing the phase angle to arcos (1/365) or so.

Possibly most important game of the year as a not so fanatical fan might put it. Green Bay Packers tomorrow night primetime. Because that important holiday falls on a Sunday, NFL more important?

Yeah they call that marketing, do away with competition. If it were not legal would be conspiracy because it is well thought out and planned that way by all parties It is no accident. NFL, NCAA, BCS, College Conference, sponsors, networks, local governments, bowl committees, schools, and team owners are guilty. It takes all of them to cooperate to make it happen.

I'm surprised they kept the Times Square ball drop at midnight on the 31st.
