It breaks down a couple of different topics regarding solar adaptation in the world as well as the U.S. specifically. A decent read.
An interesting article about the current state of solar energy

Without a way to store the excess or transport what is not used locally to somewhere else where the sun isn't shining on the planet solar energy would be similar to someone taking a drink from a fire hose. It only means that a lot of water will just flow to the sea and be wasted.
I would hope the brightest minds on this planet will find other ways to generate power locally 24/7 and not keep looking at the sun as the only source. -
He should have documented his sources better IMHO.
Earth’s temperature depends on how much sunlight the land, oceans, and atmosphere absorb, and how much heat the planet radiates back to space. This fact sheet describes the net flow of energy through different parts of the Earth system, and explains how the planetary energy budget stays in balance.

Interesting positive overview, but in order to actually bring the advancements from all the labs is PATENT REFORM FIRST. With GLOBAL enforcement!
Either that, or go totally altruistic and copy-left your open software and hardware. Take a pick.
Otherwise, we are just unwilling investors in a solar marketing scheme - which if unsuccessful, the typical single-vendor lock-in technology is left to rot or sold off to the highest patent-troll / NPE to produce profit.Last edited by PNjunction; 11-16-2016, 07:01 PM.Comment

An Asia-based group of entrepreneurs has put forth a vision for a global, interconnected energy grid that connects energy users with renewable generation sources half a world away. Starting with an Asia wide super grid, GEIDCO is aiming for a connected world by 2050.

This! Just the other day I was reading about a proposed grand south east Asian solar utility grid between China, Japan, South Korea, and Russia. While it doesn't seem to solve all of the problems, it does take a massive step in the right direction.
There is one thing I keep reading and really find distasteful. These reports keep stating "clean energy" which is a misconception. If they are talking about zero carbon then say that but then please include nuclear power generation. Otherwise using the words "clean" and "green" are nothing more than a way to lure in the unsuspecting tree huggers into thinking this is the best thing that can happen to save the world. That isn't necessarily true. Those words are used to just excite people about the "pros" and blind them from the "cons".Comment
