I had a turbocharged 62 Olds, but it was very complex with no computer to help. Should
have only been sold with a 4 speed, because the auto could not hold it. There were so
many issues with the 60s cars, I dumped them all for my 77 Delta/403. With my 65-67
6 speed auto trans, it measured 91.2 mph in the quarter mile, hardly need more if you
are not into racing. Bruce RoeLast edited by bcroe; 08-27-2019, 10:26 AM.Comment

There were quite a few poorly designed or latter modified (by manufactuer to keep up) cars in the '60s and '70s but there were some well designed ones as well. The corvair was one of the best designed and engineered cars particularly the re-engineered ones '65 and after. My highschool car was a '66 monza with powerglide. I tuned it to run on a mix of regular and CAMIII race fuel. Dropped the 0-60 by a second and increased the MPG to 34 (helped offset the cost of the CAMII). because of the powerglide and fuel mix, it could win in stop light drags over some pretty heavily modified cars, and on a mountain road was uncatchable with the far superior handling.I had a turbocharged 62 Olds, but it was very complex with no computer to help. Your old probably would have won in a quarter mile but the Monza with power glide would win on an 1/8th mile as first gear went to 37mph it would get a huge lead from that. Top speed was only about 90 due to only having 2 gears
The engine was a modified helicopter engine were it was mounted behind the seats vertically (Bell 47 often seen in MASH) with the only modification was to change oil and carb system for it to lay horizontally.OutBack FP1 w/ CS6P-250P http://bit.ly/1Sg5VNHComment

I put a LOT of miles on the 60s, and I got fed up with their short comings. The
77 will do ANYTHING better than my 60s 4 door drivers, very low maintenance,
runs happily on 87 unleaded (19 mpg on a corrected odometer), love those
12 inch front discs. Bruce RoeComment
