  • Mppt / Battery

    Hey every

i program Mppt for my battery type (see pic )

    I have 600 watt solar panels I connect them in series (3 each n 3 each )

    I have 4 6v t105 each Battery is 225ah connect them 4 together to make 1 big 12volt system (450ah )

I have been charging my Batterys for 3days without using them only in night time to charge my phones n light...

when I check my battery it says full 13.64 volt

my ? is if my battery says is full why does my Mppt turn yellow after 30mins n if I turn on my TV it will turn yellow n red which means 0 -35% charge (which I don't want my battery to be under 50%)

but when I check my battery it says 12.34 volt 92% soc
but my Mppt telling me I have 0-35% charge which get me lost ... I want to know if my battery is acting funny or my Mppt (Batterys r new 2week old from when I got them )

my 2nd ? is what does rated capacity means mines keep showing at 1270 ect what to know if that got to do with how many hrs I can use or how many ah in battery left!! (See pic )

P.s. hopefully you will understand wat I mean n thxz for ur time...

So what it the make and model number of your MPPT CC?

If it is a cheap no name one then I would say it is not working like it should or is giving incorrect idiot light status.

As you have asked 10 times now and have been told 10 times you cannot use voltage to determine the battery SOC. Only time that works is if the batteries are disconnected and allowed to rest for a day. That is what OCV aka Open Circuit Voltage means. Buy a $6 hydrometer.

Battery Capacity is Amp Hours. It can also be Watt Hours = Battery Voltage x Amp Hours. Figure it out.

FWIW your Trojan Battery SOC needs work. 12.34 volts is 60 to 70% range, not 92%. Fully charged rested OCV is around 12.7 volts.

Check Trojan T-105 Spec Sheet. Use your Hydrometer to read Specific Gravity to see what the real SOC is.

It sounds like the Morning star it trying to tell you that your batteries are being drawn down by your loads causing those yellow and red idiot light alerts.

Your battery system should be above 12.6 volts when you first start your loads. If they go down to 12.3 volts they are being discharged more than 30%.

Since I have not hands on experience with that CC I have no idea what the 1290EN means.

The morningstar lights are JUST for informing you where in the Charging cycle, the controller is.. solid green means the battery is full -BUT only valid while charging. Voltage while being used, generally is a poor indicator of state of charge. You could be overloading your battery bank capacity, what sort of loads are you applying to the system ?
