  • New solar with batery--12v or 24v???

Hi i am newby to solar energy...hi i bought 4 pieces of them here 240 wats panels, and will make a 24-volt system with 4 units 12 volt 100 amp batteries ... can help me with conections chart (conect all 4 pannels to 4 batery ant use them on 220 volt inverter)...thanks

24 V is better for the battery, but those are 20 V panels. You'll need an MPPT charge controller to make this work efficiently. With a PWM, you'll be stuck with putting all the panels and batteries in parallel and operating as a 12 V system, turning those panels into the equivalent of 100 W each. What charge controller do you have?

      i have this controller http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LCD-30A-MP...0AAOSwY45UPNMC
this is only 30 A and 760 wats on 24 volt...max input from solar panels is 48 volt...

That is one of the Chinese fake mppt controllers. Actually it is a pretty nice Chinese PWM controller but it wont step down your panels voltage while boosting their amperage.

I have used that charge controller. One thing I very much like about it is that you can change the LVD setting thereby greatly increasing battery life. It may be a Cheap Chinese knock off, but it's a good one IMO

Oh yea, I forgot it only has a 40 volt input, would waste half of your panels.

I have another one that I have yet to test. about 30 bucks on fleabay. says it can take 100v in, but as I said I can not recommend since I have not taken the time to try it out.

Note: the LVD on this unit is pre-set at 10.5 volts, you should use a separate LVD to prevent discharging your battery bank below 11.9 or 23.8 volts
