    Circulating Pump

    Hi

I wonder if anybody can help with my issue.

First of all I hope this Circulating Pump in the photos is something to do with the solar panel system!?

For some reason this pump seems to come on every 5 or 10mins for about 5mins all day, every day. The sound is similar to when the heating system comes on (humming noise). It’s very annoying at night!

I don’t remember hearing this before and I wonder if it’s faulty.

    Any information would be great.

    Thanks

    Bob

It's a circulating pump. It probably should not be running at nite unless there is some need for freeze protection.

I'd start by checking to see to see if your system has a check valve and if it's working properly.
At the same time, I'd check the temperature sensors that tell the controller the tank and collector fluid temps. If one/both/all have failed or more likely, one or more of them have become detached from what they're supposed to be firmly attached to, and also no longer well insulated from the environment, they can send incorrect info to the controller. Lastly, the controller may be bad.

My money's on the check valve and/or a poorly attached and poorly insulated sensor.

If any of this is confusing, call for service. Your system is probably wasting money.

      Hi

      Thanks for your help.

I wouldn’t go touching it myself, so would require a service visit.

Can you recommend any companies that operate in the TW15 Ashford area?

      Thanks

Since I have no idea what/where/who a TW15Ashford area is, the answer to your question is no.

But, Google is your friend in the search business.

Bob, Is it actually running? When I got this place, I heard a humming just like you
described. Eventually I tracked it down to a fan in the attic which did not turn.
The bearings were locked up, so it would come on, the thermal cutoff would
overheat and shut off. Eventually the cutout cooled and reconnected, and the
          cycle repeated. Bruce Roe

            Hi Bruce

I wouldn't even know if it was, not sure how you tell.

Turn the hot water off a guess and see if we get hot water!

I need somebody to come and look at it.

            Thanks

You've exceeded your knowledge base on the subject. Calling for service or at least problem determination is a wise choice.
