  • Interest in Multi-Vendor Charge Controller Wifi Connectivity?

    Hello SolarPanelTalk Community,

A group of us are developing an application on a MicroPC that integrates with popular brands of charge controllers; currently it is able to read live data and populate a dashboard with the attributes over time.

It has a similar look to the latest commercial Victron app, however, rather than just being accessible via bluetooth, it is accessible from anywhere since it has wifi/cloud functionality. Ultimately, we’d want to open source the application for community development and integration. As we focus on refining the product, we wanted to ping your knowledge and experience in this area to see what you guys thought of this!

What potential value would these features help you realize today?

Are there any other connectivity or data-related pain points that solving would give you more value?

Very thankful for your time and energy,

    -Eddie @ openenergyproject.org

It would be awesome if it would integrate with many devices and brands. I currently manually connect to Schneider, Morningstar and MidnightSolar to get my battery status, harvest and loads. Of course, that's several different connectors and protocols to go thru and would be a pretty ambitious project !

Integration with multiple devices from a single point is our current goal, which we are working to accomplish by interpreting the serial or bluetooth data for each device. We are confident we will be able to make development progress towards these objectives with time and help from the wider open-source community, but we really wanted to get a deep understanding of what pain points are currently being experienced by users so we that we develop a framework that provides real value to the community.

We majorly appreciate any insights into your world in this regard!
