  • Battery issues.

Hello. This is my first post.
I need orientation with my battery setup. Have two 12V 250A
20H. Have them in a 24V setting. My question is. Can i add two more
12V 250A 10H to this combination? Will the 20H and the 10H be a problem?

Based on everything I have heard, mixing different size, type and aged batteries can result with the older or less efficient ones killing off the better ones.

The batterys are new both sets. . The 4 batterys
are 12V 250AH. The only difference is two are 20h the other two are 10H.

If one is rated 250Ah at 20h and the other is rated 250Ah at 10h then they are different and will charge and discharge differently.

            Thanks for the reply.
But can I use them together in a 24V setup?

As others have pointed out you should not mix batteries of different sizes together in a bank. And just to be clear a 12v 250ah battery rated at 20h and a 12v 250ah battery rated at 10h are different. On top of that you should also avoid paralleling batteries. In both cases the batteries will charge and discharge differently which leads to shorter life.

Can you do it? Sure if you are ok with reducing the life of your new batteries potentially by half. Should you? No.

As Suprasoup stated " Can you do it? Sure if you are ok with reducing the life of your new batteries... Should you? No"

The choice is yours to make. We just pointed out the issues that you may get by using different batteries in the same system.
