  • Solar Battery Delivery/Exchange

Hi, I'm have been recently looking into residential solar systems and admittedly do not know a ton about them but thought of a concept that could get a lot more people running their homes off from solar power but am wondering about the feasibility.

Say a guy had 100 acres of field and built solar panels throughout with battery storage houses as well. What would be the feasibility of said running a company that exchanged batteries out to local residents as needed and charge for the wattage used?

Think of the same system as a fuel company. You don't drill for and refine your own fuel. As needed the delivery truck would come to your home and switch out your batteries with freshly charged ones from the solar field.

Now I am sure the start up would be astronomical but this would provide solar to a massive new customer base that do not currently consider solar because of limited space for panels, not wanting to look at panels, fear of maintenance, replacing batteries, ect. All they would have to do is pay for the inverter and leave everything else to the batterv exchange company.

This seems like a simple idea that if it was feasible would already exist. Can someone that knows what they are talking about inform me on why this isn't feasible?

    Thank you, Dylan

it would never make money, not to mention the expense to move heavy batteries, and the abuse of the batteries.
even if the houses were right next door, taking homes off grid with solar/batteries is much more costly than just using the grid power.

You forgot about the environmental impact fees and licensing required to have a large amount of batteries on the property that could cause a toxic spill.

The up front cost would be much bigger then the OP thinks and the market would be a lot smaller unless it is in a country like Africa where there is little to no power grid.

You would lose every nickle and dime you put into it.

Like a good Liberal Democrat, you spend $1 to get 1 dime back and make a Republican rich from your foolishness. Just in batteries initial investment and replacement will cost you 10 times more than you can sell the power. Never mind al th erest of the money in land, equipment, taxes, engineering and employee cost

Not to mention your customers would want to get as much power out of the batteries for there buck so they would be heavily abused batteries with a short lifespan.
