  • Sizing a Solar PV System Off plan

    Good Afternoon,

I have recently received a proposal for a quotation with regards to commercial solar PV systems. The problem I have it that I know the square meters of the warehouses - ranging from 15,000M2 to 40,000m2. I also don't know what the power usage of the units will be. How do I go about quoting and sizing these systems? I have no doubt I have ample roof space for any system size, but don't want to oversize the system as we are in South Africa and have strict rules on being net consumers, not exporters of the energy.

Any advice on what details I require to give accurate costings? Predicted Energy Usage/Roofing Material/What Else?

Also, what is the best costing/planning tool people have used. I am leaning towards subscribing to helioscope. Is there also a simulator to create financial models etc easily?

    Thanks in Advance,
    Barny
