Batteries at 100% but low hydrometer reading.

I've just checked my 24 volt bank with my hydrometer which I should have been doing a lot more obviously. It was showing 100% SOC and floating on the midnite classic but hydrometer reading was 1150. The float voltage is the Crown recommendation of 27 volts. I just increased this to 28v but is this the correct solution?
    thanks,

The SOC reading from your meter is IMHO a gimmick and do more harm than good. there are threads discussing them.

I would get your A/C charger on the batteries to get them heading back up to a real 100% SOC.

While they are charging have a look in the general battery section at the stickies on " Are you killing your batteries" and Bulk, absorb, float, equalise, what do they mean".

I dont use the "Max Smoke" method as it is called, but I have good enough sun hrs.

Thanks for your email. I'll do as Sunking suggests and see how it goes. I have equilised monthly at 31 volts so hopefully that has helped although only for the recommended 2 hours.
ill be using my hydrometer alot more.
