    Solar system calculation

    I have a device that uses 250W at 120VAC and I need it to run 24 hours a day with 2 two full days of reserve. I am located in south central Texas. What is the most cost effective setup for this? Is there a benefit to running an inverter at a higher DC voltage for efficiency? I really don't know where to start. Thanks for any input!

    250W x 48 hr = 12,000 watt hours ( or 12kWh ) That will need a 24kWh battery ( 24000 / 48v = 500ah ) needing a 500ah, 48v battery bank.. That's pretty dang big,
    You could do it with 16 golf cart batteries (still a bit small, but workable) wired 8S2P [ 8 series batteries, 2 parallel banks) giving 48V @ 440ah.
    if the third day is sunny, you have about 4.5 hours to harvest about 18kwh (to recharge the battery, and still power the load. That's going to be about a 5.5kw PV array.
    Plus an inverter, backup generator (If you dont recharge batteries, they spoil sitting discharged and you get to buy new ones - generator much cheaper) wire boxes, charge controllers, DC rated disconnects, PV mount system (roof or pole or ground)
    Ouch - going to be pricey. Any way you can reduce that load ?
