Off Grid Cabin Install - Magnum and Surrette.! Pics inside

    Hi Guys,

Back in the spring I posted with some questions about systems components and you were all really helpful! Thank you so much! I just finished installing phase one of the system, the inverter and DC disconnect, batteries, transfer switch, and the generator. Phase two will be panels and charge controller, phase 3 will be a DC-DC converter, a couple 12v loads, and 24v lighting and some wiring and small water pump.

    System is (so far):

Magnum MSH4024M Inverter (Bigger than I need or will use by double, but room to grow down the road)
Magnum ARC remote and Battery Monitor Kit
    Four 6v Surrette S6-460AGM batteries w/ 4/0 cables
    Midnite Transfer Switch
    Midnite DC Disconnect
    Honda eu3000is

I'm including some photos, any thoughts or opinions would be welcomed.

    Things I've learned:

    1. There is such a thing as a transfer switch that is too small.!! Trying to bend 6AWG wire and snake it around tiny breakers inside that little box isn't something I would care to repeat.
    2. The inverter is louder than I thought it would be, the constant hum is annoying and I think I will re-locate the inverter shortly to a weatherproof enclosure just on the outside of the outside wall.
    3. Said inverter gives off a fair bit of EMF (causes static in a radio, increases with increased load)
    4. Understanding grounding is not as easy as it would seem, with multiple scenarios available. I have questions about proper ground wire size vs application, and will start a separate thread for this shortly.

Any thoughts on mounting an inverter outside inside a box would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

You mounted your inverter on a sounding board !

Look to see if you can make a sandwich of plywood and compliant rubber to help isolate it, Otherwise, when you mount it outside, you may hear the same noise transmitted thru the wall studs,

Outdoors you have bugs and moisture issues to deal with, the inverter still needs lots of ventilation,
