For security reasons and temp low concerns is it safe to have your battery box in your off grid cabin if properly vented ?

Yes. Our battery-bank is not even in a box. Our batteries are stacked on pallets in a corner of our house.
At one point we were planning on building a shed for them outside, but it would need to be heated. After looking at how much effort it would be to provide a heated and vented outbuilding, we decided it was much easier to bring the batteries inside.

It depends on the type of batteries.
Seal lead acid, AGM or GEL would be no issue. Flooded lead acid may release fumes when they are being charged so some type of venting or air circulation would be desirable.
Any Lithium chemistry may require some type of fire proofing while being charged so indoors is ok but keep them away from flammable material.Comment
