  • Please guide me to size a solar system.

I live in Balochistan,Pakistan just 80 miles to the west ot Quetta city. I have 300W solar panels (2 150W each). Currently using a 80Ah lead acid battery and a 30Amps PWM charge controller. I have a load of 7.5 amps @ 12 volts dc directly runing during day time for nearly 9 hours. At night time using 2 lights of 1.2amps @ 12 watts dc for 4-5 hours.. my battery is sufficient for these loads currently.there is 16 hours power black out each day.. We have solar irradiation of more than 2100 Kwh/m2 and winter direct irradiation of 5.0 kwh/m2 daily.
Now, i want to get an inverter(24volts) and 2 batteries 150-200Ah each to run a TV 29" rated at 150Watts @ 230volts for about 4 hours. Kindly help me to size an inverter and a pair of battaries.
There are locals UPS available which charge the batteries at 10amps from main power.. so want to charge my batteries on 300Watts solar during day and from mains power when it is available..
    Please help..

      150w x 4 hours = 600wh x 1.2 (to allow for 20% inverter loss) = 720wh total load x4 (to allow for only 25%discharge of battery for long life) = 2880wh battery size

      2880 / 24V = 120ah capacity battery needed.
6V Golf Cart batteries start at 200ah, so that is what I would use, 4 batteries, 6V 200ah wired in series. A 300W pure sine inverter should be able to run the 150w TV

It might be less costly to obtain a new TV that requires less power.

        Thanks for help..
Will 2 panels of 150W each will charge a battery bank of 200Ah @ 24volts?

Maybe. It depends on how much you withdraw from the batteries on a daily basis.
300W @ 5 hours of sun per day, might harvest 1000 watt hours. If you use 800wh or less, you would be ok. But I have no idea what amount of power you plan to use.
Getting a smaller TV would help.
Calculate your loads in Watts x Hours so that you have a total consumption of 7777 watt hours (just an example number) and AFTER you know your consumption
amount THEN you size the battery to only drain 20 - 25% from full on a daily basis (for longest battery life) Once you have a battery size, THEN you calculate the PV size required according to the shortest sun days (winter or cloudy months).
