Battery Connection - Inverter plus Solar Charging

I have a very small system in office. 550W.

I also have a 1100W Air Conditioner. Problem is, AC does not run on 550W Solar System and wiring is like everything in room runs on UPS in case of power down which is most of the time is down.

Now, I have wried the charge controller to the battery controller and UPS too. Which means, Solar PV Positive is connected to Battery Positive and UPS positive is also connected to same Positive.

Is it a problem? Coz the terminals get too hot when power from grid is on .

A 550W array is not nearly enough to run a 1100W airconditioner!!

I assume you are not connecting the solar panels directly to the batteries? The solar panels have to go through a charge controller first before going to the batteries, otherwise you are going to end up with big problems.

Have you isolated the connections (between solar system and UPS) for the battery charging? As far as I know, you cannot have both the solar system and the UPS charging at the same time. If this is the case, then that is why the terminals are getting hot, you are overcharging!
Best would be to have an isolator switch, and/or an automatic switch-over switch, so that you only have one system charging the batteries at a time (ie only UPS or only the solar system).

No no, I do not intend to run my AC from Solar. AC is connected to a switch which was intended for a Tube light. Anyways, are there any DC Type Auto Switch-overs?
