Up until now I was planning on using two 6v Trojan 105, but then I found the Trojan T-1275 12v Deep Cycle. The T1275 is ideal for its amp hour for what I will be using but I wonder if there are any objections to using a 12v deep cycle as oppose to 2 x 6v.

As long as it meets three criteria
1- it is of sufficient capacity so only one battery is needed for a 12V system
Well actually only oneNABCEP certified Technical Sales Professional

As long as you only have 1 string of batteries and no parallel is fine. So either is OK. However 2 T105's in series is 12 volts @ 225 AH, a 1275 is 12 volts @ 150 AH. So that is not equal.MSEE, PEComment
