  • Does a kettle threaten my batteries, can this be considered a "cylcle"

If I boil my kettle my voltate drops dramatically for a short period. Of course this is understandable it's a heavy load!

I'm curious to know how much of that short term drop is considered a cycle? If so then' I'd better stop it..

    Your thoughts?

    More info:
    • Load without kettle .7kw
    • Load with kettle 2.8Kw
    • Panels input max for this time of year 1.5kw
    • Battery fully charged 52.8... this varies realistically around 51v
    • Battery drop +- 47.8 when kettle completes boil

    Thank you!

    Greg.

A cycle is 50% DOD of the battery capacity.

It means your batteries are too small for the load demand you put on them.

You can get away with it for short periods of time if the batteries are good shape and charged up. But you may cause the Inverter to operate LVD if the voltage sags to much. The real concern is if your wiring up to the task to handle that much current.
