Does anyone know if it is possible for me to run a fridge off of the renogy 100watt solar kit with at least a 70 amp hour battery? maybe more? If so, can you guide me as to what kind and where to find it? The fridge is the only device that I will be running.

This question comes up frequently and to power a small AC fridge takes more than you'd think and is going to require batteries.
You'd at least need to provide the specs of the fridge. Most importantly the startup load requirements and what zip code you're in to estimate the solar sun available. Folks usually end up recommending DC fridges made for off grid use, which becomes very expensive.Last edited by cebury; 10-02-2016, 09:08 PM. -

If you are serious about solar refrigeration, You should look at the line of DC refrigerators, "Not thermoelectric" Many run from 24v native others 12v. Most are top load and they are the best. Refrigeration is a very demanding load and using a unit made for grid power is costly. A front load unit loses 40 to 60% of it's cold air each time you open the door and must run the compressor to recover this lost thermal energy. A top load unit loses less than 10% when door is opened and runs the compressor substantially shorter cycle to recover. Running an AC powered unit from inverter will use more power than if grid connected. If your unit takes a 10 min run to recover on grid power, it could have to run 20+ min's on inverter for the same recovery, this get's worse when using a 12v inverter.Comment

What he says. The danfoss-equipped small DC refrigerators are far more efficient with your watts. Some of the best have remote compressors. They come with a sealed lineset and wiring that folds out and gets the heat away from the cold. Then you can deal best with the heat and add more insulation to the cold part.
