I'm don't think I can do it by myself either; that's why I here. And you guys have been a great help. I'll get back to you when I know more.

Regarding the degree: I didn't get it for the money, obviously.
Regarding the turnip truck: What kind of turnip truck?
Was it an East Coast truck or West Coast?

I thought a cowboy cadillac might be like the redneck version. A maxed out 2 seat 4 wheel drive with duals, lots of chrome and sstacks - to drive to work in.

Can't be taken out in the back country - too expensive! The 4 wheel drive is to brag about - not to use.

Wintertime, its about 1Kw, only a couple lights, timer for the pump, ozone generator for drinking water and occasional tool use.

Summer, when we are irrigating, and the fridge is getting used heavily, it runs 6-7 KWH, 2-3KWh being daytime use off the PV (less battery charging).

This summer I'm going to add another 3KW pole mount, and replace the 400ah battery with 800ah, and try to put in a micro hydro to run off the pond overflow. Plan is by January to have the house built and be moved in 24/7. With 3-5 cloudy days in a row, I'll have more generator run time than my original plans, but the hydro should help out. Currently, i'm trying to train the wife to keep the lights switched off, and do the learning while she's still in the city. She is going to miss the electric oven though!

                      Same Deal

I agree that a pv array can be wired with an inverter into a generator based system. How to do it? Why would the PV inverter "force" amperage into the gen? How can we fool the inverter into not seeing the gen's high impedance? Power-One/Aurora developed an inverter that interacts with all generation sources combined, but only sells them overseas.

I had one potential client do something similar. We didn't get the job a buddy of mine did but this guy spent well over 100K on the system.
                          Something like this
                          20KW sunpower modules
                          20KW Kohler liquid cooled generator
A battery bank the size of a prius,
                          and various other equipmen.
( I am not an off grid integrator I always recommend as SunKing does to buy a generator.)

                            Prius?

A battery bank the physical size of the Prius?
Or AmpHr capacity size of the Prius?

And I assume that is not a plug in prius.

He meant a battery bank the same size as the plug in car uses.

No actually the battery bank was almost as big as the actual car.
