Panel Warranty Question

I understand that except for SunPower, most other panels have a 10-12 year panel product guarantee and a 25 year production warranty. What does the panel product guarantee actually cover? For example, if at year 13 the panel suddenly dies, does that mean it is out of the product guarantee and you are SOL? Wouldn't the panel failure meet the 25 year production warranty requirement since the panel is producing less than the linear production warranty (zero production)?
