I just read an article about Duke Energy installing a second 2MW battery system at one of their coal fired generating plants in Ohio. And they already have a 36MW storage system in Texas near a wind farm.
It looks like the battery chemistry being used Li-ion based because of the fast response needed for grid stability.

In their article they talk about 2 MW ENERGY storage. Do you suppose they mean 2,000 kilowatt HOURS?

I have also seen some reporting mix up the DC and AC rating of a large array. You would think they could get that right.Comment
