  • I need some advice on this battery

    Hi
I can pick up some batteries at a good price (about the same as a Walmart deep cycle)
But I'm not sure how they would work out for a solar system. I found some info on
them But I really don't know how to read it. Can you guys check the specks and let me
know what you think of this battery?
They are 12Hx505 Enersys - Data Safe

They are AGM UPS batteries. Great battery to use in UPS systems, really low internal resistance. They are designed to deliver very high current discharge rates of 4C or 15 minutes. However the make for lousy cycle service application because they do no thave many cycles in them. About 200 cycles, and they loose capacity fast. If you press them into cycle service you are going to be replacing them within a year.

Anytime you see in the specs concerning "standby discharge rates" you are looking at UPS batteries with limit cycle life and not really good for solar energy storage with daily usage.

You need to be looking for batteries showing an Ah rating for 20 hours.
