I was at Home Depot yesterday and the CREE TW series had dropped to $7. I prefer these in most areas due to the high CRI of 93 and no buzzing like some of my other bulbs. They are not quite as energy efficient as other "60W" LED's at 13.5w but the price is nice. Normal price is $15, but last year HD had a deal with SDG&E and was selling them for $5. I will have to give these Phillips a try on my back patio.24xLG300N+SE7600 http://tiny.cc/n7ucvxComment

I agree that the best t5's are more efficient than the plain old LED bulbs you can buy at Home Depot.
But I can't screw a t5 into the sockets in my house - wouldn't want that look anyway -- and the LEDs I screwed in are more efficient (75 lumens / watt) and nicer than anything else I could find that fit.Comment

I expected a certain number of early failures but with only 2 out of 25 installed (over 5 years) I am pretty happy with the results.Comment

fwiw:
I've had 1 old school Cree fail out of 50 in 9 months,
and 1 flow-thru Cree fail out of 4 in 6 months.Comment
