  • Solar Panel Generation Factor for Ludhiana, Punjab, India?

    Good Morning!

    We were going through how to design a Solar PV System, but got struck at a point how to derive Panel Generation Factor for Ludhiana, Punjab, India? As it is established for Thailand 3.43 and 2.93 for most of the European countries .

    Would you pls. be kind enough to explain the formula to arrive at this figure step by step? Looking forward for your expert advice.

    Thanks a lot in advance!

    Regards ?
    Sandeep Kumar

    Welcome.

    Here's a world wide site http://rredc.nrel.gov/solar/calculat...ATTS/version1/
    right side lists the world regions.

    http://www.pvwatts.org/ has several caculators on their home page that may be useful.

    Enjoy.

      Re:Your Query about PGF

      Hi Mr. Sandeep

      Hope you already got your answer if not i suggeest you a solution hope it will serve your purpose:

      EXample: Wp=75W,Isc=4.8A,Voc=21.4,Im=4.4A,Vm=0.605 sq. meter

      FF=(Vm*Im)/(Voc*Isc) = 0.718

      at STC
      Efficiency= (Voc*Isc*FF)/(It*A)*100% =12.36% (at STC It=1000w/sq meter)

      If you know the avg radiation (let =616 w/sq meter)

      Actual efficiency at 616 wper sq. meter = 12.36*0.616 = 7.61%

      Power produced by the module=0.0761*616*A(0.605) = 28.36 w/hr

      Let Sunlight available = 8 hrs per day
      So total power generated by the module = 28.36*8 = 226 watt/day

      Let your required power is x watt

      Then PV module needed = x/226 =y no.

        Dear Mr.Patra

        In the formula "Efficiency= (Voc*Isc*FF)/(It*A)*100% =12.36% (at STC It=1000w/sq meter)", What is the value of A?

        "If you know the avg radiation (let =616 w/sq meter)", Why it is "Let 616",, Why not actual?

        Please Clarify
