Hello . I am very new I got a 20w panel 35 ah battery , I was wondering if I could keep my cobra 480 400 watt power inverter hooked up to my battery 24/7 while turned off without loosing power . also can I add a quick connect to it .I do not want to use the clips it came with. Also could i hard wire it .Thanks hunter

If you ever actually draw 400 watts from your inverter, you will be pulling about 40 amps from your battery. That is, as you correctly noted, too much for flimsy clips. You need a bolted or terminal connection. Not all quick connects can handle 40A either.
But 40A from a 35AH battery, even if it is an AGM battery, will not be good for the battery long term. If it is a flooded battery, the maximum sustained drain should be C/6, which would be about 6A in your case.
If the inverter is turned off, not just left with nothing plugged into its AC outlet, it should not be draining your battery at all.
And the 20W panel is about half the size you need to have a chance of properly recharging the battery.SunnyBoy 3000 US, 18 BP Solar 175B panels. -
Thanks I was planning on powering 6 5 watt light bulbs for black outs only and to charge 2 galaxy note 4 . probly also run a cable modem. Its a ub battery from amazonComment

If you can get your hands on some LED type night light bulbs, you can get just as much light or more from 6 2 watt bulbs. The biggest drains will be the Note (10+ watts, depending on the type of charger) and the cable modem (could be as much as 20 watts, look at the power supply rating.)SunnyBoy 3000 US, 18 BP Solar 175B panels.Comment

You really have things quite a bit out of balance.
Working backwards from the inverter. A 400 watt inverter at minimum requires a 12 volt 260 AH FLA or 130 AH AGM. You have a 35 AH unknown battery.
A 12 volt 260 AH FLA battery requires a minimum 280 watt panel with a MPPT controller, or 400 watt with PWM controller. All you have is a 20 watt panel with more than likely PWM controller.
Working forward with a 20 watt panel with PWM controller can at most only support a 11 AH battery, you have 35 AH
A 12 volt 35 AH FLA battery can only support at most a 50 watt inverter. You have 400 watts.MSEE, PEComment

OK I tested my back up lights . ran 4 3 watt ac light bulb and 2 7 watt DC lights for 6 hrs . ran cable modem for 2 hrs and neb for 30 min. Fully charged both phones both were around 10℅ . I am very pleased with my setup . voltage was around 12.69 when ended I think that is half way. Also hard wired the inverter!! Total test time was 6 hrs very pleased probly going buy 1 more 35 ah batteryComment

If you going to buy more battery then you have to buy more panel, otherwise the batteries will be die from insufficient charge.Comment
