    hello

ok hopefully a straight forward set of questions....

    1) what is the difference between a mppt and pwm charge controller? 2) can you run a parallel solar panel circuit through a pwm charge controller?

    any info greatly appreciated

MPPT controllers do a few things, they can raise or lower the voltage to what the batteries need.
The "Max Power Point" part is a calculation done on the fly by the controller to find the sweet spot for the array. Since voltage on the panel will drop when you draw current out of it you may not get the most power with a static load. The controller always looks at the watts (volts * amps) are and can vary the current draw on the panels to get the most out of them.

PWM is a Pulse-width modulation device that can take a higher value input and knock it down based on how long it is "ON". Then it is filtered and you get your proper output voltage. (think dimmer switch)

Depends on voltage ratings of each...
