  • Church in So Cal ... are they eligible for leases or ppa's ?

    Question for the group:

Does anyone know if Churches or Non Profits are eligible for leases or PPA's?

My current research tells me "No"...so figured I would ask the experts.

    Thanks in advance

I worked with one non-profit in CA and their conclusion was that although there was no legal reason for them not to contract a lease or PPA, the vendors would not necessarily be able to collect all of the incentives and so could not offer the same terms as for residential customers. End result was not economically viable.
    YMMV, IANAL.

I had to look this up myself today (my chuch's green committee is thinking of going solar). PPAs are the way to go, I suspect. There's good info at

particularly in the PDF that links to.

It's California-specific, but probably still interesting in other states.

I would suggest purchasing for the church, there are programs that are the same price every month as the PPA but you would paying on the system vs just making payment on the bills
