  • I'm new and need help.

I am trying to build my own solar panel. I realize that these are best for a learning experience. But I am apparently doing something wrong when I link the cells together and I am not sure what. I purchased 40 6x6 solar cells. But when I solder the cells together and attempt to test it with my Multimeter I am not getting a voltage reading. I have them linked together from + to - so I am really at a loss. If anyone could please tell me what I may be doing wrong.

It's also entirely likely the cells you bought, are duds

Or you BBQ'd the metal layers off while soldering

    Or you shorted something

With a virgin cell, you should be able to measure 0.5V in good light.

Switch the meter to amps, and you should measure at least 1A in full sun.
