  • 3 phase electricity from solar panels

    Hi,

im new to the solar energy game so please accept my apologies if i sound dumb.

I was wondering, is there any way to convert the electricity i get from solar panels into 3 phase electricity.

If so are there systems avaliable on huge scales so that i could power my whole factory, i have a 1.6 Mega Watt maximum demand.

    cheers

Xantrex mkes some big beasts: http://www.xantrex.com/web/id/254/p/1/pt/23/product.asp
250KW is pretty big, but you will need a lot of solar to drive that. And a forklift to move it

thanks for that, i have acces to loads of space for solar paneling, i assume it is possible to convert to 3 phase energy, the grid must do it somehow

The Xantrex industrial 250KW inverters ARE 3 phase.

        GT 100 & 250 Grid Tie Solar Inverters - Three phase - 60 Hz models 480 Vac 301 A rms

A couple of those running will put a dent in your pocketbook, and grid consumption !

Transformers are also used to convert 1 to 3 phases, and back, but the power co just uses 3 phase generators.
