  • looking for 3 phase converter

We own one commercial building (4,500 sq.ft) and we are contemplating over installation of solar system for this property. As there is a plenty of options for one phase solar system, we have an additional challenge, that we need 3 phase system to run machinery in this building. We need at least 200 Amps supply.

May someone has any links to the information of how much this would cost and perhaps who would be a supplier of such a converter?

    Thank you,

    Victor

Unless you are trying to build an off grid installation, most inverters can feed into a three phase bus. I expect the far bigger challenge is working out a interconnect with your utility as most net metering arrangements are only for small loads. This can really screw up the payback calculations as the Demand and Vars fees may wash out the solar savings.

        Fronius makes 3 phase inverters
        If I remember 11.4 KW
There are larger ones made by Schneider and others.
If the system is small say 15 KW you could use 3 inverters of 5 KW on a delta service. Depending on voltage and Hz

I recently worked on a project that had two 500 kva 3 phase Solaron model inverters made by Advanced Energy. I think they make 3 phase inverters as small as 35kw but they may have others available. You can try searching their website.

            +1.

A single phase inverter for the phase-to-neutral voltage of the three-phase system cannot tell the difference between that and a single-phase system. No special coordination between the inverters is necessary, but you should design the system to result in a reasonably balanced loading on the three phases when you are done, whether the inverters are operating or not.

If you have a very unbalanced reguar load, with one phase heavily loaded, you may save more money and keep POCO happier by concentrating the PV backfeed on that same phase.

Note: If you do not already have three-phase service to the building, then you are really asking a different question, so let us know that please.

I know my Xantrex GT inverter (Schneider) was designed so that it also can be used on three phase and coordinates with the other inverters used in such a system to insure the loads remain balanced (or they will shut themselves down).
