  • Replace GENset with PV system

I need to run vertical turbine pump static water level is = 127M
    total head 201 M
    pumping rating is 1100 GPM
break Hp for the pump = 280Hp the Diesel engine we have now 411hp
we need to run on solar power and replace the engine by electric motor 350 hp and the solar plant should be designed to run on day only with maximum 10hr per day on summer no need for power at night (no batteries ). is it possible?
what is solar system capacity i need ?
and which brand i should used and how much it will cost ?

The good news is you have a lot of desert and sunshine
The bad news is that is a huge project and to my knowledge no one makes a pump to run from solar any where near your required capacity.

Why not ,what prevent using solar system to run pump?.is it connection between inverter and electric motor?
I know it cost a lot but i think it will save money in future ,what u think?

No way it will save money, cannot be done, or I should say no fool would pay for it.

First off you have to convert the 350hp electric motor to watts. Then include some efficiencies and losses. Even if the sun light was consistently the same brightness for the 10 hours a day (which it is not by any means) you are looking at a solar array field of about 400 to 500kw.

Since the sun is not consistent during even a cloudless day there is no reasonable way of using PV Panels to run a motor that needs to have a consistent power source. The 500kw panel rating is only during peak brightness. When the sun is not at that point the kw output goes down below what you need to run the motor.

You will need some other type of power generating source during the times the sun is not at the brightness to deliver the 500kw of power. Maybe if you were only going to run the pump for 2 - 3 hours a day a PV system could do it for a couple of million US dollars. But a load of 350hp for 10 hours per day is not possible on PV alone.
