    Hi all,

    I am building off grid solar systems that consist of:

    2 - 100 watt panels
    1 – 12 volt, 30 AMP battery charger- Max solar input 450watt
    1 - Pure sine 2200 power inverter – 4400 peak
    8- 35AH seal batteries

    Can anyone tell me what will be my back feed breaker AMPS?
    Maximum allowed PV breaker?
    Do I need a service panel or just a disconnect switch?

    2200w/4400w is too large for any 12v system.
    8 batteries? All in parallel?

    You got changes to make before you worry about ONLY the breaker.

      Not going to work out very good. About as soon as you put a 100 to 200 wat load on th einverter it will trip off-line from under voltage as you battery grunts and groans.

      200 watt panels with MPPT need a battery capacity of at least 130 AH and you have a 35 AH battery so will over charge and gast the battery severly
      A 200 watt 12 volt inverter is plain silly. It takes at least a 1200 AH battery to drive it up to 2000 watts, and a 1200 AH 12 volt battery needs 2000 watts of panels to maintain them. You have a 35 AH battery only capable of driving a 60 watt inverter.

      You pretty much mismatched everything possible. Based on your 200 watt panel using the minimum 130 AH battery will support a 200 watt inverter. Note Panel wattage= roughly inverter wattage.

        the good news is he has 280ah battery-pack...
        the bad news is that it is constructed from 8x 35ah batteries in Parallel... which negates the good news.

          My bad did not catch that. Yeah insane using parallel batteries.

          But even at 280 AH is not going to drive a 2000/4000 watt 12 volt inverter so it is a moot point. 200 watt panel 280 AH battery means at best a 400-500 watt inverter.

            I am planning on running a pool filter and power tools. This is for outside use only. I was planning to connect the batteries in series to increase the voltage. I went with a 2220-watt inverter for later expansion.

              You must determine watt-hours needed for filter & tools before building a Solar/Battery System...
              and you will realize you need a much bigger system than you imagined.

              8 batteries in series will be 96vdc @ 35ah... you're not going to accomplish anything with that configuration.

              What is the input voltage of the 2200/4400 inverter? 12vdc? 24vdc?

                  Input voltage of the inverter is 10 – 15 vdc. Model APS2200-12, output 115 vac.

                      In Parallel is more amp hours

                              4400watts / 12volts = 367amps.
                              You'd need a really thick cable from the battery to the inverter to move 367amps safely.

                              Correct... but don't assume you are good with 8 batteries in parallel.
